Few things compare to the pain of losing someone you love. Our deepest condolences at this difficult time.
Unfortunately, you are now faced with the difficult task of bringing closure to you and your family. With this comes a lot of work. We have been in business in this community for over 100 years, and it has given us the great pleasure of serving so many of you. Thank you. Many of our customers have described the stress and anxiety of having to dispose of a loved one's vehicle. We feel it is our job to communicate and offer a way to help relieve this stress. We want to offer you the peace of mind and convenience if you have a vehicle that you wish to sell. We will come to your home or work to appraise the vehicle and handle all the legwork and paperwork.
Please call us to discuss in more detail how we can help you.
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Ginny Bowden

Frequently Asked Questions
Contact us! We will walk you through every step of the process and answer all your questions. Depending on the year of the vehicle and mileage, we will strongly consider purchasing it. We primarily purchase 8-10 years old or newer vehicles and 100,000 miles or less. However, we want to talk to anyone with a vehicle, and if we can't purchase it for our business, we will introduce you to someone who might.
We primarily want vehicles that are 10 years old or newer and below 100,000 miles.
Title to the vehicle, Death certificate (if you are not on the title), and Executor of the Estate. You will also need to find out if there is a loan on the vehicle. We can help you with this!
If there is no payoff on the vehicle, and you have the title in hand, you can receive payment for the sale of the vehicle on the same day. If there is a payoff, once we receive the title, we will send you the difference. If you owe more than what the vehicle is worth, you can still sell it, and pay the balance off – we can help you with that. If you want to trade it for another vehicle, we will consider all the above scenarios and walk you through the process and help you find the right vehicle that fits your wants and needs.
The estate needs to be settled, and if no one else is on the title, you will need to be an Executor of the Estate.
We need this # to do an appraisal. There are two locations – one is in the upper left-hand corner of the driver's side dash. The other location is on the door frame of the driver's side door.
Once you have sold the vehicle, contact the insurance company, and explain that the vehicle has been sold. Most owners keep the insurance card inside the vehicle – usually in the dash.
Contact the selling dealer and provide the VIN # and the mileage. The dealer can then compute your estimated refund. You may have to provide a death certificate and sign for any refunds.

THE McCLINTON BUY OUT/TRADE PROCESS
Quick, Safe, Transparent. We'll buy even if you don't buy from us!
HOW IT WORKS:
We will follow your lead. You can call, you can fill a form out online, you can come to our store, or we can come to your home or workplace. Whatever is best for you.
- Tell us about your car
- Give us the year, make, model, mileage, overall condition, and if you have the title
- We primarily want vehicles that are 10 years old or newer and below 100,000 miles.
Bring in your car (or we can come to you)
One of our Certified Appraisers will perform a physical inspection.
Relax and get paid.
We'll purchase your vehicle on the spot, and you can walk away with cash and less stress.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
- Your vehicle
- Keys and all remotes (2 sets of keys are much appreciated)
- A valid state-issued photo ID
- Vehicle title and registration (Pay off information if applicable)
WANT TO MAKE A TRADE?
You may be eligible to pay less in sales tax by trading in. How much you save depends on your state's sales tax rate and the value of your trade-in.
HOW TRADING WORKS:
- Get an offer for your trade-in
- Find your next vehicle.
- Apply the value of your trade-in purchase or down payment.
- You can save thousands in sales tax!
Example: $10,000 (our offer) x 6% (WV Tax Rate) = $600 (Saved in taxes)
How does an instant offer work?
After asking you approximately a dozen questions about your vehicle, we assess the market data related to your car to generate an instant offer (this is how much we'll buy your car for). We won't ask you for any contact or personal information before you view your offer.
Once you create an account, you'll have 7 days to accept our offer.
If you accept the offer, we will schedule a pickup. When one of our team members or local towing partner arrives, they'll do a quick assessment of your vehicle to make sure everything is in order, at which point you'll receive your payment.
How can I get the most value out of my car?
We suggest cleaning out your vehicle, taking out any personal belongings or garbage, and running it through the car wash as the first impression is always important.
How long do I have to wait to get paid?
Selling to a dealership is the easiest way to get paid for your car. With the title in hand, you can expect a check within 1-2 business days and, when possible, the same day. See dealer for details. If you still have a loan on your car, we will mail the check directly to your lender, so you don't have to. Because we buy cars every day, we have the process down to a science. It is no hassle for us to do the work so you can enjoy all that extra time you now have on your hands.
